DTEK has secured funding from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation to advance the 650MW Poltavska Wind Power Plant in Ukraine.
DTEK said the NOK5.5 million (€487,000) grant will finance geological and engineering surveys and design documentation required to ensure regulatory compliance and move the project toward construction.
The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation added that the funding forms part of a wider €8 million Norwegian support package for companies investing in renewable energy and essential sectors in Ukraine.
DTEK Renewables will lead development of the project in Poltavska, with completion expected in 2028.
The project is intended to support decentralisation of Ukraine’s energy system, strengthen resilience and aid integration with EU energy standards.
More than 40% of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has been damaged, with reconstruction costs estimated at $91 billion by the World Bank.
“We welcome Norway’s support at a moment when Ukraine’s energy system continues to face challenges,” said Oleksandr Selyshchev, chief executive officer of DTEK Renewables.
“Poltavska WPP is a strategic investment in Ukraine’s future.”
“The energy sector in Ukraine has suffered enormous losses since the full-scale invasion four years ago,” said Espen Barth Eide, minister of foreign affairs of Norway.
“Ukraine is pursuing ambitious plans for renewable energy, and it is natural for Norway to contribute by facilitating investments from companies wishing to take part.”
