Sonnedix has surpassed 1GW of operating capacity in Italy after acquiring the 194MW Akira solar PV portfolio.
The company said the transaction includes six projects acquired from EOS Investment Management and Capital Dynamics, with five already operational and one 12MW project under construction.
Sonnedix added that all plants are located in Lazio and supported by long-term power purchase agreements providing stable revenues.
The acquisition brings Sonnedix’s total operational capacity in Italy to over 1GW amid continued expansion in the market.
The portfolio comprises 182MW of operational capacity and a further 12MW under construction.
Sonnedix has 12GW of total capacity globally and continues to grow its Italian footprint through acquisitions and development.
“Surpassing 1GW in Italy is a significant milestone which further strengthens our leadership in the Italian market. Since our first project here, in 2010, we’ve built a long-term footprint and a consistent record as a key partner in fulfilling Italy’s energy transition.” said Axel Thiemann, chief executive of Sonnedix.
“With our extensive expertise in the Italian energy market, and the recent allocation of a further 800MW through competitive auctions and schemes, we are well positioned to deliver Italy’s energy transition through scale and innovation.”
“This milestone is the result of our proactive development strategy in Italy which includes strategic acquisitions, project development, and investments in hybridisation.” said Giuseppe Maronna, head of growth for Italy at Sonnedix.
“With momentum underpinned by strong performance in Italy’s recent FER-X and NZIA allocations, we are on track to reach our target of 2GW operational capacity by the end of 2028.”
