Elawan Energy has signed a 10-year virtual power purchase agreement with Lear Corporation linked to a 30MW wind project in Burgos, Spain.
Elawan Energy said the wind farm has recently begun operations.
The company added the agreement will allow Lear Corporation to cover more than 50% of its operational electricity demand in the European Union with renewable energy.
The project will supply electricity to homes and businesses while contributing to Spain and the European Union’s decarbonisation targets.
Elawan Energy currently has more than 1.3GW of renewable capacity in operation in Spain.
Globally the company operates in 15 countries with a portfolio including 2.3GW of installed capacity and 0.7GW under construction.
“This achievement represents a strategic milestone for Elawan Energy, as it strengthens our position as a leading independent power producer in Spain, with a diversified generation portfolio that contributes to the country’s sustainability objectives,” said Diego García, head of revenue management and PPAs at Elawan Energy.
