HELLENiQ ENERGY has completed and started commercial operations of two photovoltaic parks with a combined capacity of 58MW in southern Romania.
The company said the projects are part of a 2023 agreement with METLEN covering the development and acquisition of four solar projects with a combined capacity of 211MW.
HELLENiQ ENERGY added that the remaining two projects under the agreement, with a total capacity of 153MW, are expected to be completed and enter commercial operation in 2026.
The Romanian solar parks mark the group’s first operational renewable energy assets in the country.
Construction of a 96MW wind farm in northeastern Romania is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2027, which will bring HELLENiQ ENERGY’s total installed capacity in the country to over 300MW.
The company’s total renewable energy portfolio in Romania exceeds 850MW across solar, wind and energy storage projects.
HELLENiQ ENERGY is currently active in renewables across Greece, Romania, Cyprus, Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia with 564MW of capacity in operation.
The group aims to reach 1.5GW of installed renewable capacity within the next three years and more than 2GW by 2030.
Following the integration of Enerwave in 2025, the renewables, power and gas businesses form a central pillar of the group’s transformation and growth strategy.
