INSPIRE Environmental has established a permanent operational base in Aberdeen to support offshore energy projects across Scotland, the UK and Europe.
The company, part of Venterra Group, said the expansion positions INSPIRE in one of Europe’s busiest offshore energy hubs and includes plans to build a team of around 30 specialists by 2030.
INSPIRE added that it supports offshore infrastructure across the full project lifecycle from early survey and consenting to construction and long-term environmental monitoring.
Its services include benthic and fisheries science, underwater acoustics, Nature-Based Design and marine data services.
The company also brings Sediment Profile Imaging and Plan View technology to the UK and European markets to generate high-resolution seabed data and support environmental evidence for consenting.
The move comes as Scotland prepares for large-scale offshore wind development under the ScotWind and INTOG programmes and following the UK government’s AR7 auction which awarded 8.4GW of offshore wind capacity.
“We’re not just opening an office in Aberdeen, we’re investing in Scotland’s offshore wind future,” said Jeanine Boyle, managing director of INSPIRE Environmental.
“By combining advanced imaging, fisheries science, acoustics, and Nature-Based Design, we’re helping projects work with nature from the start, and that’s what will define the next generation of offshore wind.”
INSPIRE said it has supported more than 27GW of offshore wind projects globally since 2009.
The Aberdeen base is co-located with Venterra Group company Oceanscan to support equipment management, maintenance and rapid deployment for offshore survey work.
