The US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia has granted a preliminary injunction allowing Dominion Energy to resume construction on the 2600MW Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project.
Dominion Energy said its team will now focus on safely restarting work to ensure CVOW begins delivery of critical energy in weeks.
Construction has been on pause since the Trump administration slapped a stop-work order on five in-construction offshore wind farms in December.
The company added that it will continue seeking a durable resolution of the matter through cooperation with the federal government while its legal challenge proceeds.
CVOW will consist of 176 offshore wind energy turbines generating a total of 2.6-gigawatts, which is enough energy to power up to 660,000 homes.
Dominion Energy stated that CVOW is a critical part of its all-of-the-above diverse energy supply strategy to meet the region’s growing demand.
