SSE has submitted a planning application to the Department for Infrastructure for its proposed Tattymoyle wind farm in County Tyrone.
The company said the scheme, located about 6.5km southwest of Fintona, would comprise up to 10 turbines with a maximum tip height of 180 metres and a capacity of around 60MW.
According to SSE, the application follows extensive environmental studies and two rounds of public consultation held since autumn 2024.
Delivery would depend on securing a grid connection, a route to market and a final investment decision if the project receives consent.
“Submitting the planning application for Tattymoyle Wind Farm is an important milestone for an onshore wind project which has the potential to deliver meaningful climate, economic and community benefits for County Tyrone,” said Ghislain Demeuldre, head of projects onshore Ireland at SSE Renewables.
“If approved for delivery, Tattymoyle would provide vital new renewable energy to Northern Ireland’s electricity system at a time when accelerating the energy transition has never been more important,” Demeuldre added.
“We are delighted to bring forward the Tattymoyle Wind Farm planning application,” said Mark Ennis, chairman of SSE Ireland.
Ennis stated that projects like Tattymoyle are essential to delivering affordable, sustainable power, meeting climate targets and strengthening energy security.
