FairWind has secured a contract from Vestas to deliver the full installation scope for 44 turbines at the Sanquhar 2 wind farm in Scotland.
The company said the project is an extension of the existing Sanquhar site in Dumfries & Galloway and East Ayrshire and will be the fourth largest onshore wind farm in the UK.
When completed, Vestas’ EnVentus wind turbines will power over 335,000 homes annually and offset roughly 540,000 tonnes of CO₂ every year. Construction is already underway and operation is anticipated to commence in 2027 and is expected to generate 1.2 terawatt hours of electricity per annum once fully operational.
FairWind added that it will deploy global experts and locally hired technicians to support turbine installation and help develop a skilled local workforce.
The company stated that the site’s mountainous terrain and wide turbine spacing present unique challenges and that it will draw on experience from projects across northern and central Europe to ensure smooth execution.
René Damgaard, UKIE regional director at FairWind, said: “We are proud to bring our global experience and technical capability to such a milestone project for Scotland’s renewable energy sector.
“Our teams are focused on delivering the highest standards of precision, safety and quality and we are committed to ensuring the project is completed efficiently and responsibly.
“This contract further strengthens our long-standing partnership with Vestas, and we look forward to supporting the successful delivery of such an important onshore wind development.”
