Renewable energy sources supplied more than 58% of Germany’s electricity consumption in 2025, according to new data from the Federal Network Agency.
The agency said total electricity generation was 437.6TWh, of which 257.5TWh came from renewables.

It added that wind delivered the largest share, with offshore turbines producing 26.1TWh and onshore 106.5TWh.
Photovoltaic generation rose to 74.1TWh, supported by strong summer sunshine and capacity additions.
Biomass contributed 36TWh last year.
Conventional generation fell to 180.1TWh.
Average wholesale prices on the day-ahead market increased to €89.32/MWh.
Negative prices occurred in 573 hours.
Germany imported 76.2TWh of electricity and exported 54.3TWh, cutting net imports to 21.9TWh.
