European Energy has started hydrogen production at the expanded Måde Power-to-X facility in Denmark after increasing electrolyser capacity.
The company said the upgrade to 8.1MW follows installation and commissioning of an additional unit.
It added that the first hydrogen from the new Plug Power electrolyser was produced on 10 December 2025 at 10 per cent capacity and 40 bar pressure.
Måde previously operated with a 3.1MW Stiesdal electrolyser, which has now been replaced with an updated unit.
European Energy has also secured ISO 9001 certification for operations as a gas distributor in Denmark, and hydrogen from the facility will be certified as RFNBO Hydrogen under the ISCC scheme.
“Expanding the electrolysis capacity at Måde is an important step in advancing our work with Power-to-X. The new unit allows us to test system performance under operational conditions and supports our aim to develop commercially viable hydrogen production based on up-to-date technical standards,” said Lars Dyrholm, director and head of ptx asset management & operations at European Energy.
The company stated that system tuning, performance optimisation and verification activities will continue for the next three to four weeks.
Once commissioning concludes, the facility will supply hydrogen commercially, with European Energy expecting to deliver 550 tonnes of green hydrogen, equal to approximately 1,500 truckloads in 2026.
European Energy first produced hydrogen at Måde in June 2024 and plans to test various electrolysers at the site.
