BayWa’s renewables unit and its Dutch subsidiary GroenLeven have completed the sale of the 46MW Skûlenboarch floating solar project in Friesland.
Project rights have been transferred to local cooperative Enerzjyk Skûlenboarch, municipality Tytsjerksteradiel and the Friesland Clean Energy Fund, the companies said.
Once built, the 35-hectare installation will become the largest floating solar park in the Netherlands and BayWa r.e.’s largest of its kind, generating power for more than 15,500 households, according to the partners.
Maura van de Meent, managing director of GroenLeven, said: “This successful transaction reaffirms our commitment to the expansion of solar in the Netherlands.”
Dr Daniel Gaefke, chief operating officer of BayWa r.e., commented: “This partnership is a great example of how we collaborate with a broad spectrum of investors to deliver impactful renewable energy projects.”
The project will be realised by the cooperative with support from the fund and municipality, and local facilities such as a mountain bike trail and fishing pier are planned.
