Energiequelle has commissioned a 21MW wind farm in Teschendorf in the district of Gifhorn in Lower Saxony.
The company said the project comprises five Enercon E138 turbines, each rated at 4.2MW, which are expected to generate around 60 million kWh of electricity per year.
Energiequelle stated that construction began in June 2024 after a 12-year planning process and that all turbines were connected to the grid as scheduled in October 2025.
The developer said the wind farm will provide financial benefits of around €3 million to the city of Wittingen and surrounding villages under Section 6 of the Renewable Energy Sources Act and through contributions from the Energiequelle Foundation.
Tina Hermerding, project manager at Energiequelle, said: “In order to create acceptance for projects in the field of renewable energies, it is important to involve people and the community financially.”
Hermerding added: “Through both the EEG and the Energiequelle Foundation, as well as the power bonus, we have established legally sound ways to do this.”
