Heerema Marine Contractors has cut first steel on its new float-over barge H-731 at the CIMC SOE yard.
The company said the first steel cut was performed by Klaas Heerema on December 11.

It said the 220-metre barge is being built for the TenneT 2GW programme and will be used to install large offshore substations in the North Sea starting in 2027, supporting the Dutch and German energy transition and offshore grid infrastructure.
Heerema added that the barge’s engineering has focused on optimising sailing behaviour to reduce fuel consumption during towing.
It stated the project is being delivered together with CIMC SOE and TenneT Germany.
