The UK government has granted planning permission to Enso Energy and Cero Generation for the 190MW Helios solar farm in North Yorkshire, England.
Energy department DESNZ approved a Development Consent Order for the project today (3 December) following an application in July 2024 and subsequent examination.
The array, which will also be co-located with a battery energy storage system, is to be located at a site between the villages of Camblesforth and Hirst Courtney.
It will connect to the grid via underground cable at the nearby Drax power station.
Planning inspectors reviewing the proposals recommended the project for approval following an examination between December 2024 and June 2025.
The consent decision was issued by energy minister Martin McCluskey on behalf of Energy Secretary Ed Miliband.
Enso Energy managing director Bill Rees said: “We are delighted to receive confirmation that this project has received Secretary of State approval.
“It is an important project to deliver the UK government’s Clean Power 2030 targets and support the UK’s transition to home-grown renewable power.”
