TotalEnergies has submitted permit applications to German authorities for two of its offshore wind projects in the North Sea and Baltic Sea.
The applications for planning approval of the 2 GW NordseeEnergies 1 project in the North Sea (site N-12.1) and the 1 GW OstseeEnergies project (O-2.2) in the Baltic Sea were submitted on schedule to the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH).
The move follows market speculation that the company was renegotiating licence terms with German authorities due to changing market conditions.
“This marks the first major milestone on the path to successfully implementing our projects and strengthening sustainable energy supply in Germany,” said Antoine Becker, Managing Director Offshore Wind at TotalEnergies in Germany.
“Everyone is working diligently on implementing the projects, as Germany is the most important European market for the development of our integrated electricity business,” he added.
According to TotalEnergies, construction of the projects will begin in 2029, with commissioning planned for 2031, one year later than the previously expected 2030 timeline.
BSH now has up to 18 months from receipt of the complete documents to conduct its review and issue a planning approval decision.
