ARB Wind wins NNG maintenance contract

ARB Wind has secured a major contract from EDF and ESB for balance of plant inspection and maintenance as well as above water foundations inspections at the operational 450MW Neart na Gaoithe wind farm off east Scotland.

The company said the award marks a key milestone in its offshore expansion and follows the start of operations at the 54-turbine NNG site on 24 July 2025.

ARB Wind said it will provide balance of plant technicians to deliver a wide range of services across the project’s offshore and onshore assets, including turbine foundations, substation platforms, the East Lothian onshore substation, and operations and maintenance facilities in Eyemouth, Rosyth and Blyth.

The above water foundations inspections will include baseline and scheduled surveys of 56 offshore foundations using remote visual inspections via drones, followed by general and close visual inspections using rope access.

ARB Wind managing director Arran Bell said: “We’re absolutely delighted to continue working with NnG.”

He added: “This contract is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team over the past three years during construction.”

He said: “We’re proud to support NnG as it enters its operational phase and to play our part in delivering clean, secure energy to Scotland.”

NNG operations and maintenance manager Chris Woods (pictured, right) said: “Throughout the development and construction of NnG, we have seen more than £205 million of contracts awarded directly to Scottish businesses.”

He added: “This latest award to ARB Wind is testament to this and we have worked closely with its wider business for some time through crew transfer vessel contracts.”

He said: “We look forward to continuing to work with the business throughout the operational phase of NnG.”
ARB Wind said two teams of technicians will operate on a rotational basis throughout the year to carry out inspections, routine maintenance and ad-hoc support.

The company said it remains committed to the highest standards of health, safety and environmental management and shares NnG’s ambition of zero harm.
