European Energy has signed a power purchase agreement with Apple in Australia.
The company said electricity will be supplied from the 108MW(dc) Lancaster solar park in Victoria, which is under construction and expected online next year.
European Energy Australia country manager Catriona McLeod said: “This project reflects the pace at which renewable energy development is moving in Australia.”
She added: “There is strong demand for clean energy, and partnerships like this help bring new capacity online. The focus is on projects that integrate effectively with the Australian energy system and provide long-term value for the regions where they are located.”
European Energy said Australia remains a priority market, with a growing pipeline of solar, wind and battery storage projects.
The company said the Lancaster project will form part of Apple’s plan to bring more than one million megawatt-hours of new renewable electricity online each year in Australia before 2030.
European Energy executive vice president Jens Peter Zink said: “Long-term agreements with major energy consumers play a constructive role in enabling renewable energy projects.”
He added: “When companies make commitments of this nature, it supports investment decisions and brings new generation capacity forward. These partnerships connect demand with new clean supply and help advance the wider energy transition.”
European Energy said it continues to expand its presence in Australia through close collaboration with local communities and partners, supporting national and regional energy strategies and the decarbonisation of the electricity system.
