Offshore Wind North East marks 10th anniversary in Sunderland

Offshore Wind North East (OWNE) will celebrate its 10th anniversary this November as the UK’s offshore wind industry gathers in Sunderland.

The event will take place on 5–6 November at the Beacon of Light, bringing together more than 100 exhibitors and over 50 speakers from across the global offshore wind sector.

Major North Sea developers including Dogger Bank Wind Farm, Sofia Offshore Wind Farm and Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm will feature alongside industry leaders such as Equinor, RWE, Vårgrønn, Vestas, Ørsted and Van Oord.

The conference programme will include North East Mayor Kim McGuinness and focus on themes such as infrastructure and manufacturing, deepwater offshore wind, emerging UK projects and North East–Celtic Sea collaboration.

Delivered by national business development organisation NOF and supported by Energi Coast, the region’s offshore wind cluster, OWNE connects developers, suppliers, ports and government bodies to explore opportunities and share innovation.

Joanne Leng MBE, chief executive of NOF, said: “We look forward to welcoming the offshore wind community to Sunderland as we celebrate 10 years of Offshore Wind North East. In the decade since its inception, OWNE has grown to be a cornerstone event in the renewable energy sector, one that attracts visitors from across the UK and overseas.”

North East England has been central to the UK’s offshore wind industry since its beginnings, hosting the country’s first offshore wind farm off Blyth in 2000 and now home to a mature supply chain spanning design, installation, and operations and maintenance.

OWNE 2025 is backed by strategic partners Dogger Bank Wind Farm, RWE and Van Oord, with regional support from Tees Valley Combined Authority and Invest North East England.
