Co-op Power, the UK’s largest co-operative energy buying group, has relaunched with a renewed focus on helping businesses cut costs and source green energy sustainably.
The Co-op, which already manages energy procurement for its own operations, is extending its expertise to other organisations seeking ethical, low-cost power. The group said its experience managing major sites such as the Biggleswade distribution depot demonstrates its commitment to efficiency and sustainability at scale.
“As the biggest Co-op in the UK, we buy power for our own business, and we decided to use our buying power to help other like-minded businesses save money and source energy in an ethical and sustainable way,” said Imran Rasul, chief procurement officer at Co-op. “Our team brings deep expertise in sourcing, buying, and managing energy, and we’re committed to delivering real value-helping businesses cut costs while sourcing energy sustainably.”
Co-op Power’s relaunch follows two years of internal reform that included strengthening its hedging strategy and expanding its corporate Power Purchase Agreements. The service will now offer consultancy and procurement support through four main areas: green strategy design, flexible energy purchasing, portfolio and bill management, and account management.
“We’ve redesigned our approach to make Co-op Power stronger and more resilient than ever,” Rasul added. “This isn’t just about buying energy; it’s about co-operating to create value for businesses, communities, and the planet.”
