Työvene OY has delivered a new Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull crew transfer vessel to Maritime Craft Services.
The MCS SWATH 3 is the first of three units under construction and has been optimised for offshore wind operations, the Finnish shipbuilder said.
The vessel is designed to minimise motion in rough seas, offering greater stability and safe transfers in higher waves than conventional CTVs.
It was developed in partnership with Ad Hoc Marine Designs and incorporates feedback from crews operating earlier SWATH units.
Työvene chief executive Juha Granqvist said: “Together with the MCS site team we are setting a new benchmark for offshore crew transfers. Our focus has always been on safety, efficiency, and reliability, and this vessel delivers all three.”
The vessel is equipped with Power Take In technology for hybrid operation, advanced navigation and redundancy systems, and enhanced crew comfort measures.
MCS managing director Menno Kuyt said: “A SWATH does not follow the contours of the waves up to 2.25m Hs and keeps its speed in these conditions.”
The CTV will be deployed in the North Sea offshore wind sector.
