Foresight Group has started operations at the 277MW Kolvallen wind farm in Sweden.
The project, located in the Harjedalen municipality, features 42 Siemens Gamesa 6.6MW turbines with a hub height of 135m and a tip height of 220m.
Construction began in June 2022 and was completed in May 2025, with a grand opening ceremony taking place this month.
The wind farm is expected to generate 957GWh annually, equivalent to the electricity needs of 95,000 households, according to Foresight.
The project used sustainable practices during construction, including recycled reinforced steel, onsite gravel sourcing, and onsite concrete batching, which cut CO₂ emissions by about 54%.
Foresight said the wind farm will become climate neutral within four months of operation.
The company added that a community fund will be established, allocating a share of annual revenue to local initiatives.
Six local technicians have also been employed to operate and maintain the site, ensuring long-term benefits for the regional economy.
Foresight has worked with Swedish developer Arise on the project since inception.
Arise will continue to provide project management services to support operations and long-term performance.
Richard Thompson, partner and co-lead of Foresight’s FEIP fund, said: “This landmark project not only adds significant renewable capacity to Sweden’s grid, but also demonstrates our commitment to sustainable construction practices, community engagement, and supporting Europe’s transition to clean energy.”
Arise chief executive Per-Erik Eriksson said: “This world-class renewable energy asset will, through its scale and efficiency, deliver real benefits for the environment and community, drive industrial growth, and strengthen the resilience of our energy system in uncertain times.”
