Ampyr inaugurates 96MW solar park in Netherlands

Ampyr Solar Europe has inaugurated Solar Park Noordoostpolder, its largest solar facility in the Netherlands with an installed capacity of 96MW.

The 54-hectare project, comprising more than 159,000 panels, will generate enough electricity to power over 33,000 households each year while avoiding nearly 32,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.

Solar Park Noordoostpolder forms part of a 16km gigawatt-scale renewable corridor that combines wind farms, solar plants and energy storage, all connected to a single TenneT substation.

Municipal alderman Van Amersfoort said the initiative stands out for its integrated design across three separately developed solar parks. “The long ribbon of solar panels, set between the wind turbines, the IJsselmeer, and farmland… creates the image of a pioneering energy landscape. I am proud of the images already circulating, which to me are clear confirmation that we have done this right,” he said.

Ampyr Solar Europe chief executive Tarun Agrawal said the collaboration with partners “serves as a model for future projects” and highlighted that the company now has a Dutch pipeline of more than 1GWp within a 7GWp European pipeline.

The project will also supply renewable power to major industrial players including Rockwool and VW Kraftwerk GmbH. Rockwool energy category director Kenneth Rotvig Dupont said the 10-year supply contract “delivers both certainty and stability” and marks “an important step in decarbonising Dutch industry”.
