Longitude has formed a partnership with the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) to deliver an integrated offshore wind design offering spanning concept through to detailed engineering.
The collaboration will cover foundations, subsea cables and offshore substations, combining Longitude’s structural design and engineering competence with NGI’s geotechnical expertise.
Longitude global director for offshore wind design Jan Erik Berg said: “I welcome the opportunity to work with NGI to drive new design solutions and added value for clients in the offshore wind space. Combining our structural design and engineering competence with NGI’s geotechnical design expertise allows us to create something new and special for clients in a market that requires more competitive solutions.”
The agreement enables the two organisations to cooperate across applied geosciences, geotechnical design and structural design, with a combined workforce of more than 2200 offshore specialists and 400 geotechnical engineers.
NGI director of offshore energy Thomas Langford said: “Our goal is to provide clients with an enhanced and integrated technical offering in offshore wind design, to foster innovation and deliver new solutions to support sector growth. The collaboration with Longitude will cover both concept, FEED and detailed design work.”
NGI operates internationally with offices in Norway, the US and Australia, and is preparing to open a new office in London. Longitude, part of Oslo-listed ABL Group, specialises in offshore wind, subsea and marine engineering.
