Swiss energy supplier Axpo has commissioned a 25MW onshore wind farm in Finland.
After 11 months of construction, the Lålax wind farm (pictured) in Vörå, Ostrobothnia, is now online.
Four Vestas V162-6.2MW turbines, with a hub height of 134 metres, will generate around 70GWh of green electricity per year.
This is enough to supply approximately 9300 Finnish four-person households with clean energy.
The electricity is fed into the transmission grid via a substation that Axpo built alongside the new wind farm.
A spokesperson for Axpo Nordic said: “The Lålax wind farm is a milestone for our wind team in Vaasa and a strong contribution to Finland’s energy transition.
“With a substantial pipeline of further projects, we will continue to drive the expansion of wind energy in Finland and support the country’s climate targets.
“We are particularly pleased with the excellent collaboration within the Axpo Group. Our subsidiary Volkswind Service France is responsible for the operational management, and the electricity generated by the Lålax wind farm is traded and marketed on the power exchange by Axpo Nordic.
“By pooling our expertise, we create sustainable energy solutions together. A huge thank you to the project team and our many partners on site for this fantastic achievement.”
