Qair secures wind deals in Moldova and Romania

Qair secures wind deals in Moldova and Romania

Qair has signed a power purchase agreement for a 27MW wind farm in Moldova and won a second 50MW contracts for difference award in Romania for its Cobadin project.

The Moldovan wind farm was awarded in the country’s first competitive tender, while the Cobadin facility in Constanța region is now backed by two 50MW CfD tranches.

Qair said these deals build on earlier Romanian successes, including an 8MW project supported by the EU Modernisation Fund.

Together with Moldova, the secured portfolio in both countries now totals 135.5MW of wind capacity ready for construction.

Qair said this reflects the growing complementarity of the two markets, now coordinated under a single operator, enabling optimised asset management.

Charles Lhermitte, president of Qair Renewables and Qair Moldova and COO at Qair Group, said: “Signing this contract in Moldova, combined with our three recent wins in Romania, marks a decisive step for Qair.

“These projects reflect our determination to accelerate the energy transition in Eastern Europe by leveraging synergies between these two strategic markets.

“Thanks to the dedication of our local teams and our international experience, we are proud to launch an ambitious construction program that will directly contribute to Europe’s climate goals.”

Qair added that its teams in Romania, alongside partner SEDERA in Moldova, are securing land rights, permits and grid connection for the projects.

The company said experience from markets such as the UK, Poland, Germany and France is being applied to deliver tailored wind, solar and storage solutions in Eastern Europe.

Qair said these milestones reinforce its role as a driver of the energy transition in the region and strengthen its ambition to build a resilient, interconnected, decarbonised energy infrastructure.
