Gentari Renewables and Gamuda Energy have agreed to collaborate on developing around 1500MW of solar capacity with battery storage in Malaysia.
The project will be delivered under the national Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme to support the energy demand of hyperscale data centres.
Gentari said the partnership combines its large-scale renewables expertise with Gamuda’s track record in engineering, construction and infrastructure delivery.
The company added that the collaboration will help advance Malaysia’s energy transition and reinforce the country’s role as a regional digital economy hub.
Hyperscale data centres for cloud computing, AI and digital services are forecast to require more than 5GW of reliable power by 2035, according to the partners.
Gentari chief renewables officer Low Kian Min said: “Malaysia’s digital economy is growing rapidly, bringing with it rising demand for reliable and sustainable power.
“Expanding renewable energy capacity is not only critical for meeting this demand but also key to driving long-term growth.

Gentari currently has over 8GW of installed and under construction renewable capacity across its markets.
