The 800MW Great North Road solar and biodiversity park near Newark-on-Trent has been accepted for examination by the Planning Inspectorate.
The nationally significant infrastructure project, proposed by Elements Green, would generate enough electricity to meet the equivalent needs of about 400,000 households.
Plans include planting over 60,000 trees, creating 800 acres of biodiversity areas, 50km of new hedgerows, and more than 30km of new permissive paths and bridleways, including a circular recreational route around the site.
Mark Noone, UK project director at Elements Green, said: “Having our application accepted for examination is a key milestone and a testament to the hard work of our project team. The input we received throughout the various consultation rounds has played a vital role in shaping a stronger, more responsive proposal.”
The deadline for submitting representations on the proposals is 2 October.
