Gentari has signed a power purchase agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for an 80MW wind energy project in Tamil Nadu, India.
The project, expected online in mid-2027, will generate about 300,000MWh of clean power annually to support AWS’s net zero carbon target by 2040.
Gentari chief executive Sushil Purohit (pictured, with Tengku Muhammad Taufik, Chairman of Gentari and President & Group CEO of PETRONAS; Uwem Ukpong, AWS VP of Global Services; and Ir Ts Mohd Yusri Mohamed Yusof, SVP of Projects, Technology & HSSE, PETRONAS) said: “Gentari is excited to support AWS in their net zero journey, and we welcome more partners to join us in building a more robust clean energy ecosystem.”
AWS ASEAN managing director Jeff Johnson said (pictured, front right with Gentari Chief Renewables officer, Low Kian Min, front left)): “We’re proud to work with forward-thinking organisations like Gentari who share our commitment to both technological advancement and environmental stewardship.”
The PPA follows a 2023 collaboration agreement and advances Gentari’s goal of scaling practical clean energy projects across Asia.
