Rezolv Energy has signed a contract with Vestas to supply the turbines for phase 2 of its 461MW Vifor wind farm in Buzau County, Romania.
The Danish OEM will supply 42 EnVentus V162-6.4MW machines with 166-metre towers for the project, which is due to be completed in mid-2027.
The deal was reported by the subscriber-only reNEWS on 17 July, and mirrors the turbine supply deal signed by Rezolv and Vestas for the project’s first phase, featuring 30 turbines of the same type.
Meanwhile Rezolv, which is backed by infrastructure investor Actis, has also selected Austrian infrastructure group PORR as balance of plant contractor for phase 2, while Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Plc., will supply the 400 kV grid transformer.
Alastair Hammond, CEO, Rezolv Energy, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with all three companies for the second phase of the Vifor project. This is among the region’s key renewable energy projects, set to play an important role in strengthening Romania’s energy security and improving air quality.
“It’s also essential that it sets the standard for responsible development, which is why PORR’s track record on sustainability was so important to us.”
Construction of the project’s 269MW phase 2 is scheduled to begin late summer 2025.
Once complete, Vifor will be the largest wind farm built in Romania in the past decade, and one of the largest onshore wind farms in Europe.
Phase 1, currently under construction, includes 192MW of installed capacity and is expected to be operational by spring 2026.
