Acciona Energía is to sell a 440MW wind energy portfolio in Spain to Opdenergy.
The renewables developer has reached an agreement with independent energy producer Opdenergy – backed by private equity firm Antin Infrastructure Partners – to sell the wind assets for an estimated €530m.
The portfolio comprises 13 wind farms in the provinces of Albacete, Cádiz, Cuenca, Lérida, Valencia and Zamora with an average age of 15 years.
The agreement also includes a portfolio of solar photovoltaic projects under development, totalling up to 351MWp, linked to the hybridisation potential of the wind farms included in the deal.
The transaction is expected to be completed before the end of the year. It forms part of Acciona Energía’s asset rotation strategy, designed to enhance the value of its portfolio and strengthen its financial profile.
Other recent milestones in the asset rotation programme include the sale of two hydropower portfolios in Spain: 175MW to Elawan Energy and 626MW to Endesa.
In addition, last month the company signed an agreement with Peru-based energy company Luz del Sur for the sale of the 136MW San Juan de Marcona wind farm.
