The offshore high-voltage substation topside for RWE’s 1GW Thor wind farm in Denmark has been installed, marking a new milestone for the project.
Following the jacket and topside’s sail-away from HSM Offshore’s Schiedam yard, the final installation onto the jacket foundation was executed offshore by heavy-lift vessel Gulliver of Scaldis SMC.
An HSM Offshore spokesperson said: “This installation marks a key step in our full EPCIC contract delivery for the Thor project, including engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning of both jacket and topside.”
Once operational in 2027, the Thor offshore wind farm will supply renewable electricity to over one million Danish homes.
The offshore wind farm, the largest in Denmark, is a joint project between RWE and Norges Bank Investment Management.
