Iberdrola has chosen Global Maritime to provide critical marine services in support of operations and maintenance (O&M) on the 496MW Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm in France.
The wind farm (pictured), developed by Ailes Marines, is the second large-scale offshore wind project in France and is owned by Iberdrola.
Located approximately 16km off the coast of Brittany, the €2.4bn project comprises 62 Siemens Gamesa turbines. It was commissioned in 2024 and aims to generate 1820GWh of clean energy annually. This is enough to supply energy to 835,000 people, equivalent to 9% of the total electricity consumption in Brittany.
As part of the agreement with Iberdrola, Global Maritime will deliver a comprehensive range of marine services, including vessel inspections and audit services, general marine support, and HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality). The framework also covers marine consultancy, marine warranty surveying, engineering and technical support.
The framework agreement will be managed through Global Maritime’s London office, with support from its multi-disciplinary teams across Europe, including Spain, Germany, and Norway.
Global Maritime will draw on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) established with Boslan (part of Accenture) in April 2024 to support the effective delivery of this framework agreement.
Boslan has a longstanding relationship with Iberdrola, having delivered a range of marine consultancy and assurance services – including technical advisory support, bidder evaluation for the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm, and marine coordination and HSE services.
Global Maritime country manager Robert Askins said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to this framework agreement by Iberdrola. This collaboration underscores our expertise in marine services and our commitment to supporting offshore renewable energy projects.”
UK marine lead at Global Maritime Charlie Simcox added, “We very much look forward to supporting our clients and their wider joint venture partners, Scottish Power Renewables.
“This agreement highlights GM’s commitment to supporting the offshore wind sector with high-quality marine expertise.”
An Iberdrola spokesperson said: “We are looking forward to having Global Maritime support the marine services required for the O&M phase of Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm.
“Their extensive knowledge and experience in the marine industry will be of great benefit to the daily operations of the wind farm.”
