Vestas books 154MW double time in Greece

Vestas has landed five orders for wind turbines across Europe and in Japan with a total capacity of 274MW.

The orders, which form part of the manufacturer’s second quarter intake, include a 143MW contract to supply and install 23 V162-6.2MW units at Eurowind Energy’s Frumusita, Vector and Pecineaga wind farms in Romania.

Vestas has also secured a 20-year service agreement as part of a deal which increases the OEM’s installed or under-construction capacity in Romania to 1.5GW.

Turbine delivery is planned for the second half of 2026 ahead of commissioning in 2027.

Vestas Mediterranean East general manager Srdan Cenic said: “We are proud to partner with Eurowind on this project, and we are grateful for their trust in us.

“This order demonstrates the strength of our local execution and service expertise, and our ability to deliver the latest wind technology in support of Romania’s energy transition.”

The company has also landed 50MW and 28MW contracts with undisclosed developers in France and Romania to deliver and commission 12 V117-4.2MW and eight V117-3.45MW machines to the respective projects by the end of next year.

Seven V136-4.5MW turbines have been ordered for an undisclosed 32MW project in Greece for commissioning by next summer.

Meanwhile, Chubu Electric Power has placed a 21MW order for five V117-4.2MW units for the Atsumi II scheme in Japan that is due to go online in late 2027.

All four of the deals come with 20 to 25-year service agreements.
