RWE has held a topping-out ceremony for a new offshore wind control centre in Jemgum, East Frisia, ahead of full operations starting in spring 2026.
The building, leased long-term from Real Immobilien, will serve as a 24/7 operations base for RWE’s existing and future offshore wind farms in Germany and continental Europe.
Around 50 RWE staff will relocate to the 1120-square-metre facility, which includes a modern control room, offices, and break areas.
The building is being constructed to the highest sustainability standards and aims to achieve certification under Germany’s QNG quality seal for sustainable buildings, according to RWE.
“From here, ship movements, wind turbines and substations will all be monitored,” RWE said.
Once complete, the site will also act as the project office for the 1.6GW Nordseecluster, which RWE is developing with Norges Bank Investment Management.
The cluster is located north of Juist and will supply power to up to 1.6 million homes once operational.
