The plant in Szczecin will manufacture steel tubular towers for the offshore wind industry requiring very large dimensions, which will support the development of wind farms both in Poland and worldwide.

The plant is scheduled to go into operation in 2026 and will directly create 450 jobs, Windar said.

The factory will serve domestic and global demand and play a key role in supporting the Polish offshore wind energy sector.

The investment may prove to be a key element in the further development of Poland’s infrastructure supporting the RES sector and will become an important point on the map of the European energy sector.

The lease of the land at the Szczecin port is to be for 30 years.

Pelayo Berjano, managing director of Windar Polska, said: “Windar aims to lead the creation of a sustainable supply chain across Europe, capable of scaling up to meet the anticipated growth in offshore wind demand.

“Our offshore manufacturing facility in Poland highlights a clear mission: with stable, long-term policy support, Europe can significantly increase investment in wind energy and create green employment opportunities.”

Windar Renovables has been supported by investment partner Bridgepoint since 2023.

Carlos Sanz, partner and sector head of advanced industrials at Bridgepoint, said: “Windar’s investment in Szczecin is a key moment for the European offshore wind sector and a great example of the industrial regeneration that clean energy can bring.

“This new facility supports the local economy and reinforces Windar’s position as a global leader in offshore wind components.

“At Bridgepoint, we’re proud to support Windar in scaling its operations and helping accelerate the energy transition across Europe.”
