The topside for the 700MW offshore transformer platform Hollandse Kust (west Beta) has been successfully placed on the jacket.
This milestone completed by Heerema’s vessel Sleipnir took place during the night and the morning of 21 May, approximately 50 km off the coast of Egmond aan Zee.
From this autumn, TenneT’s latest 700MW power socket in the North Sea will also be ready for use.
The ready-made topside left the port of Antwerp on a floating pontoon on 17 May.
The structure was then towed via the Scheldt to Dutch waters and sailed into the North Sea at Vlissingen.
This brings the completion of the third and final 700MW platform, built for TenneT by the contractor consortium Equans/Smulders, into view.
Marco Kuijpers, director of Large Projects Offshore at TenneT, said: “We are very proud of this milestone.
“In total, this is the seventh and for the time being last connection for an offshore wind farm that TenneT is developing using this 700 MW standard.
“TenneT has now started the new grid connection concept of 2 gigawatts in both the Netherlands and Germany, with which we will connect the wind farms to the high-voltage grid from 2028.”
