A new project director has been appointed for the 270MW Pennavel floating offshore wind project off the south coast of Brittany.
Pennavel, a joint venture between Elicio and BayWa r.e., has announced the appointment of Jérôme Hilt (pictured).
With significant experience at EDF Renewables, Hilt has held several key positions, including as a foundation expert and EPCI (engineering, procurement, construction and installation) director for major offshore wind projects in France and internationally.
Hilt said: “It is with great enthusiasm that I join this human and collective adventure.
“Pennavel has a strong ambition, on the industrial and territorial levels, and I am very happy to be able to contribute to it.
“What motivates me is to concretely build, with the teams and local partners, a sustainable, meaningful project with a positive impact for the territory.”
Hilt replaces outgoing project manager Aldrik de Fombelle, who led the initial phase and will now return full-time to the offshore wind business of Elicio.
De Fombelle said: “It was an extremely rich and stimulating experience to launch this project from its very beginnings.
“I am proud of the progress made collectively, of the solid team we have put together and of the bond of trust forged with the territory.
“I am now passing the baton to Jérôme with confidence, convinced that this new phase will further consolidate the foundations we have laid together.”
Commissioning of the 13-turbine array is scheduled for 2031.
The project benefits from a secured grid connection with RTE, the French transmission system operator, which is responsible for the transmission assets including offshore substation and export cables.
