All three floating offshore wind farms being developed by BuhaWind Energy Philippines have been granted a key certification from the government.
Located off the coast of the Philippines, the three wind farms will generate a total capacity of 4GW of power once commissioned.
They have all been awarded the Certificate of Energy of National Significance (CEPNS) from the Philippine government.
The projects are Northern Luzon (2GW), Northern Mindoro (1GW) and East Panay (1GW) and are being developed by BuhaWind Energy Philippines, a partnership between Copenhagen Energy and PetroGreen Energy Corporation.
The three floating offshore wind farms support the government’s priority of growing the domestic renewable energy industry to increase security of national power supply, reduce carbon emissions and secure local jobs.
A spokesperson for Copenhagen Energy said: “These certificates, issued by the Department of Energy, represent a major milestone as they ensure accelerated timelines and prioritised permitting across various national and local government agencies.
“It underscores the project’s potential to improve energy security and provide economic, environmental and technological benefits to the country.
“This recognition highlights the strategic importance of our projects in advancing the country’s renewable energy goals.”
