Steelwind is celebrating a production milestone with the completion of its largest and heaviest monopile.
A company spokesperson said: “With a length of around 115 metres and a weight of around 2200 tonnes, this monopile is not only the largest and heaviest that Steelwind has ever produced, but also one of the largest and heaviest monopiles ever produced in Europe.
“Further monopiles of this size will follow in the production process.
“We are delighted about this fantastic milestone and are proud to be able to contribute to another great project.
“Many thanks to everyone involved for their outstanding work and commitment!”
In February, Steelwind announced it was investing €50m in its factory in Nordenham-Blexen in Germany to expand capacity to meet increasing demand for offshore wind power.
The fabricator’s machines are being expanded and enlarged with the aim of producing monopiles with a diameter of up to 11.5 metres by the second half of 2026.
The company’s order books are full until 2030.
