Engie Romania has completed the acquisition of a 54MW wind project in Romania’s Constanta county.
The project area has high wind potential and is recognised for its superior yields in green energy production, said Engie.
The Mereni wind project is at the “ready to build” stage, having all the necessary building permits to start works.
Construction is scheduled to start at the end of this year, with commissioning scheduled for 2027.
“This acquisition reflects our constant commitment to actively contribute to the energy transition, by developing a diversified portfolio of renewable projects.
“We continue our evolution with concrete steps, supported by the ambition to be a reliable partner for our customers, offering sustainable and competitive solutions, adapted to their long-term needs”, said Cristian Buzan, Deputy General Manager of Engie Romania.
Engie Romania operates an installed capacity of 211MW from renewable sources.
These assets include three wind farms (178MW) and five solar farms (33MW), strategically located in different regions of the country.
The company will soon put into operation a 37.2MW solar plant in Aricestii Rahtivani, Prahova county.
