Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has signed a power purchase agreement with Google for the 500MW Fengmiao 1 offshore wind farm in Taiwan.
The deal represents Google’s first offshore wind PPA in the Asia Pacific region and will support its data centre, cloud region and office operations in Taiwan.
Fengmiao 1 became the first of Taiwan’s Round 3.1 auction projects to reach financial close earlier this year. The 500MW wind farm will be located off the coast of Taichung and is expected to begin commercial operations in 2027.
The project is part of CIP’s broader ambition to support Taiwan’s energy transition by building large-scale renewable infrastructure that attracts global investment and delivers local benefits, it said.
Google said the deal will add to its existing portfolio of carbon-free energy projects in Taiwan, which includes investments in solar and geothermal technologies.
Fengmiao 1 is being developed by CIP’s CI IV fund. The company has also secured seabed rights for the adjacent 500MW Fengmiao 2 project under the same auction round.
