Equinor says it will “engage directly” with the US Bureau Of Ocean Energy Management on questions related to permits for 810MW Empire Wind 1.
The Interior Secretary Doug Burgum ordered BOEM to “immediately halt all construction activities on the Empire Wind Project until further review of information that suggests the Biden administration rushed through its approval without sufficient analysis”.
“We will engage directly with BOEM and the Department of Interior to understand the questions raised about the permits we have received from authorities,” an Equinor spokesperson told reNEWS.
“We will not comment about the potential consequences until we know more.”
Equinor first signed its lease with the federal government for Empire Wind under the first Trump administration in 2017.
