The Elwind offshore wind project has put out a tender for a contractor to carry out an in-situ metocean measurement campaign.
Elwind is a joint Estonian-Latvian state-run project and aims to contribute to both countries’ renewable energy targets.
The project, which will have a capacity of at least 1GW, is now seeking bidders for the metocean (meteorological and oceanographic) measurement campaign in the Baltic Sea.
The work will be carried out by a single provider at the two offshore wind farm sites in Estonia and Latvia.
Elwind said the measurement campaign is aimed at providing accurate and validated data on the metocean conditions for the respective offshore wind park sites.
The data on the meteorological and oceanographic conditions will serve as the primary input for the Wind Resource Assessment and can furthermore be used as input by companies submitting bids to develop the wind farm.
The obtained metocean data can be used for further analysis to improve the preliminary design of the wind farms, the installation and maintenance of wind turbines, inter-array cables, substations and their support structures.
The submission deadline for the tenders is 6 May 2025.
