The final turbine has been installed at the 450MW Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm in Scotland.
The installation of the 54th turbine (pictured) was completed in the early hours of this morning at the wind farm, which is located 15.5km off the Fife coast and covers an area of 105 square kilometres.
The £1.8bn project is jointly owned by EDF Renewables UK and Ireland and ESB.
Once fully commissioned, the offshore wind farm will have a capacity of around 450MW, supplying enough low carbon electricity for around 375,000 homes and offsetting 400,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
Neart na Gaoithe means “strength of the wind”. EDF Renewables UK and Ireland acquired NnG in 2018, and in 2019 sold a 50% stake to Irish energy company ESB.
