Cadeler jack-up Wind Peak has been delayed arriving into Hull to begin loading out turbines for RWE’s 1400MW Sofia wind farm after yesterday’s North Sea collision between a tanker and a cargo ship.
The vessel was due to sail into the Siemens Gamesa facility yesterday, according to marine traffic date, but has stopped off the Yorkshire coast east of the site of the accident involving the Stena Immaculate, which was transporting jet fuel on behalf of the US military, and the Portuguese-flagged Solong, which was carrying chemicals.
“We are following the guidelines from the authorities and will wait in position until we have full clearance to enter Hull,” Cadeler told reNEWS.
Approval may take a number of days, it is understood. The vessel is due to start installing Siemens Gamesa 14MW this month. Wind Peak was not involved in the collision.
Thirty-six crew members were brought ashore to Grimsby after the Stena Immaculate and Solong caught fire following the accident on Monday.
One of these sailors was brought to hospital while another from the Solong remains missing, according to the Coastguard.
It is understood that crews are still working on fires on at least one of the ships.
Crew Transfer Vessels working on offshore wind farms in the area are understood to have assisted in the rescue efforts.
