Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners’ US subsidiary Vineyard Offshore will eliminate 50 positions in the US and Europe, the company has confirmed.
A Vineyard Offshore spokesperson said in a statement: “In an effort to position our projects for sustainable long-term success we have made the difficult decision to reduce our current team size in light of recent market uncertainties.
“We look forward to continuing to advance these transformative American energy projects in the years ahead.”
A source close to Vineyard Offshore said that while 50 positions were eliminated, some employees were reassigned to projects outside the US. The figure includes a mix of unfilled positions, contractors, and regular employees.
Vineyard Offshore is part of a joint venture with Iberdrola’s Avangrid building the 806MW Vineyard Wind off the coast of Massachusetts, one of the three offshore wind projects currently in construction in the US.
The CIP subsidiary is also behind the 1.3GW Excelsior Wind project located in the New York Bight region, which is currently under consideration for power purchase by the state of New York.
Vineyard Offshore paused its follow up 1.2GW Vineyard Wind 2 project in December, after the state of Connecticut declined to purchase 400MW of capacity. Massachusetts had agreed to purchase 800MW of the project in a multi-state solicitation, but the project is now back at the drawing table.
