The developers behind the 560MW Green Volt floating wind array have denied a report that the project has selected Mingyang Smart Energy as its turbine supplier.
Green Volt, a joint venture between Flotation Energy and Vargronn, said in a statement that as yet, no turbine supplier has been confirmed.
“Having secured a Contract for Difference from the government last year, we are identifying supply chain partners to help us build the windfarm,” a spokesperson said.
“We will comply with any Government regulation and guidance around security of critical national infrastructure in the selection of all our suppliers.”
The Sun had earlier reported that the joint venture had selected Mingyang as its turbine supplier, and quoted Ministry of Defence sources raising concerns that the Chinese-made floating machines could be a threat to national security.
The project would be Europe’s largest floating wind project.
