Germany’s latest ground-mounted solar tender has been oversubscribed attracting over 4708MW of bids for an awarded volume of 2150MW.

Germany’s Federal Network Agency has awarded 242 bids with a volume of 2150MW in its latest tender, which had a deadline of 1 December 2024.

The auction attracted 524 bids for a total volume of 4708MW.

“The bid volume received in the ground-mounted tender once again significantly exceeds the tender volume.

“The persistently high level of competition is causing a further reduction in the award values.

“The funding requirement for new ground-mounted systems will thus fall even further,” said Klaus Muller, president of the Federal Network Agency.

The award values determined in the bid price procedure vary between 3.88 euro cent/kWh and 4.95 euro cent/kWh.

The average volume-weighted award value in this round is 4.76 euro cent/kWh and approximately 6% below the value of the previous round.

The last time such low award values were achieved was in the bidding round in February 2019.

As in the previous bidding rounds, the largest award volume was accounted for by bids for sites in Bavaria (916MW, 120 awards), followed by sites in Schleswig-Holstein (213MW, 21 awards), Lower Saxony (192MW, 18 awards), Baden-Wurttemberg (176MW, 20 awards) and Brandenburg (170MW, 13 awards).

The next round of tenders for ground-mounted solar farms in the first segment will take place on 1 March 2025.
