Polish renewables developer RPower is to commence construction of 43MW of solar capacity in Portugal this year.
The three new projects are in Paiao, Feira and Trancoso and form part of the developer’s plans to target a mid-term solar portfolio of 100MW in Portugal.
RPower operates a portfolio of nearly 50MW in Portugal, consisting of eight solar farms located in Terena, Serta, Mosteiros, Tremes, Alhais, Elvas, Macao and Arada.
By the end of the first quarter of 2025, the company plans to commission additional projects with a capacity of 10MW in Lagos and Portimao.
“Portugal is a key market in our development strategy. We are committed to achieving our goal of building a total capacity of 100 MWp in this part of Europe and solidifying our position as the largest Polish investor in the renewable energy sector on the continent,” said Przemek Pięta, co-founder and CEO of RPower.
Pieta added: “Expansion in the Iberian market is a strategic step for us. In Spain, we are beginning construction on projects with a capacity of 23 MWp, which will generate over 45 GWh annually.”
In addition to solar installations and battery energy storage systems, the company is initiating investments in wind energy, aiming to develop assets with a capacity of 25MW.
