Lewis Business Media acquires reNEWS

Multi-platform media company Lewis Business Media (LBM) has acquired renewable energy news and business information provider reNEWS.

LBM managing director Simon Lewis takes over as publisher of reNEWS from founder Dan Rigden with immediate effect. The consideration has not been disclosed.

Under LBM’s ownership, reNEWS will continue to deliver market-leading news and business intelligence via its flagship fortnightly newsletters, regular special reports and online.

Lewis said the family-owned business, which publishes a range of successful and respected B2B titles, also has plans to grow the energy title.

“I am thrilled to be joining the renewable energy sector – a sector with an incredibly bright and promising future,” said Lewis.

“This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an industry that is shaping the future of our planet.”

reNEWS was established in 2002 to provide unflinching, news-focused coverage of the renewable energy sector. It is currently led by editor Stephen Dunne and a team of expert journalists focused on producing exclusive and important stories that provide unrivalled insight into the inner workings of offshore and onshore wind.

Lewis added: “reNEWS is highly regarded and has earned a strong reputation for quality thanks to the hard work of Dan, Stephen and the editorial team.

“This gives an excellent foundation to build from and we are eager to grow and innovate in this dynamic field.”

Founders of reNEWS Rigden and Richard Crockett, who was the publication’s long-time production editor before retiring in 2022, said the acquisition means the publication will go from strength to strength.

“We are confident LBM’s ambitions for the company will support our excellent team of journalists and sales staff to grow reNEWS and take it forward into a new successful chapter,” they said.

“We’d like to personally thank all the staff and freelancers who should take the credit for what we have built and who have made the last 22 years so enjoyable.”
